Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get TestFlight beta access for iOS?

We are actively rolling out pilot builds via Apple TestFlight to home baristas, roasters, and specialty coffee professionals.

To request an invitation, send an email to support@getbrewstation.com with the subject TestFlight Beta Request, along with your grinder model and favorite brewing dripper. We onboard new cohorts on a rolling weekly basis.

What if my grinder or brewer isn't listed in the database?

BrewStation features Equipment Snapping with resilient free-text matching. If your hardware is unlisted, you can type in whatever grinder or brewer you own (e.g., a vintage hand grinder or prototype dripper).

The rule is simple: Matched or Custom // Full 0–100 Range. Unmatched grinders automatically receive canonical 0–100 index mapping with qualitative grind bands (Fine → Medium-Fine → Medium → Coarse).

Want your grinder's clicks or brewer's geometry officially calibrated into our verified hardware profiles? Email the exact model name to support@getbrewstation.com, and our team will measure its burr curve and add it to our release database.

How does dial-in calibration work?

Dialing in espresso or pour-over shouldn't require calculating extraction yields on a spreadsheet. In BrewStation, every recipe pairs your hardware with an exact recipe target (e.g., 19g dose · 300 ml water) calibrated on our canonical 0–100 grind index scale.

After each cup, simply taste and tap your sensory rating:

  • sour: Indicates under-extraction. BrewStation nudges the canonical grind index finer (Adaptive Nudge // −6 Index Points) to increase extraction yield.
  • balanced: Perfect cup. BrewStation locks in the calibrated offset for that bean on your Station.
  • bitter: Indicates over-extraction or channeling. BrewStation nudges the grind index coarser (Adaptive Nudge // +6 Index Points) to clean up astringency.

The offset is automatically remembered per bean, per Station, so switching between bags never wipes your hard-won calibration.

Do I need to create an account to use BrewStation?

No. BrewStation is built on a 100% local-first philosophy. There are no accounts, passwords, or cloud logins to manage.

When you install the app, your coffee logs, custom stations, and recipe parameters live strictly inside your device's sandbox. It runs completely offline on your kitchen counter.

Is my coffee bag photo stored or uploaded when I scan a label?

No photos are stored or harvested.

The camera scanner operates via on-device or stateless edge Optical Character Recognition (OCR). Once the text (roaster name, varietal, process, origin, elevation) is read and converted into your bean profile, the temporary image buffer is immediately discarded. We do not maintain an image library or build tracking profiles from your scans.

Are you partnering with specialty coffee roasters and cafés?

Yes! We work directly with specialty roasters to verify bag label OCR formats, pre-calibrate extraction profiles for seasonal lots, and provide commercial Station-level brewing tools for counter staff and customer retail education.

If your roastery or café is interested in verified partner profiles or early access to our roaster tooling, please reach out to our partnerships lead at hello@getbrewstation.com.
